FILM INDUSTRY

Hayley Egan developed her skill set as a sculptor, painter and maker while working in the feature film industry for over 12 years.

Bananas Away

The Pitch... “My lighting idea is one that has been on my mind for a few years now. When I was growing up in Tonga, mum and dad would hang a full bunch of bananas from a rope on the veranda. It was our version of a fruit bowl. As kids we knew were weren't allowed to help ourselves to the fridge but the bananas were free game. The bunch would still be green. We would be watching and waiting for them to ripen. We probably ate them green most of the time anyway. They would be hung with a pulley system and hoisted up, traditionally also to keep the pigs away.” -Hayley Egan

The Result… A completely one of a kind lighting statement piece that, as promised, winches up and down as desired and is a talking point for all who see it.

“Hayley makes beautiful, amazing things with a sculptor’s eye. She’s fearless - in complete control of her materials.” -Amanda Keller and Harley Oliver

An estate lost in time, with added stainless steel.

“This was the brief I was given when I took on a commission to create several large scale pieces for my client’s majestic estate. I loved this idea of taking modern clean stainless steel and merging it with aged brass and bronze.” -Hayley Egan

For this client, Hayley has created two life size knights in armour and a pair of armoured wedgetail eagles each with a wingspan of 2.5 meters, from the initial consult and sketch to hand sculpting, mouldmaking, casting and fabrication. She is continuing to create artwork for this client.

Pieces of Art with a little Spark

Tentacles, Tikis, Toffee Apples and Honey Bees. In 2017, at Blank Space Gallery Surry Hills, Hayley brought her eclectic visions to light in her first solo exhibition of glowing lamps and Chandeliers.

Each piece was designed, hand sculpted and fabricated by Hayley in the 12 months leading up to her exhibition. Enquire to see the full range - available made to order.

A Tropical Oasis… Illuminated.

Hayley’s clients had an existing collection of lanterns in their tropical inspired garden including a gorgeous 1.2 meter long porcelain fish sculpture. The lanterns were in need of being wired up and displayed properly. So as not to take away from the natural beauty of the garden, Hayley designed and built two fake trees with internal electrical wiring.

One tree completely camouflaged into the surrounding branches, so much so that the client couldn’t tell fake from real and wondered when her fake tree was going to be installed… it was right in front of her.

The banana tree was a little something extra with lavish brass leaves that will patina over time… and of coarse the porcelain fish with a bright new smile. This golden banana tree bounces tropical sunset light around the garden.

Blossoms and Robins.

“The first work i did for this client was painting whimsical cherry blossom branches over silver leaf in her bedroom 5 years ago… it just grew from there.” -Hayley Egan

This Northern Sydney client has since commissioned Hayley to create bronze wisteria vines that “grow” through the garden and meander into the house, ending in an ethereal 2.5 meter drop chandelier. Dotted with bronze birds and Swarovski crystals, this chandelier casts leafy projections across the walls. In addition, Hayley has created a custom bronze wisteria ottoman and other objet d’art.

Lavish pieces for a very private client.

For 3 years, Hayley was commissioned by this client to create sculptures, murals and beautiful objects for a breathtaking Eastern suburbs home. Pieces included; an outdoor shower in the form of a shimmering brass tree; an ornate gilded ceiling mirror; bas relief sculptures on walls; whimsical murals and a fireplace mantel like no other.

The fireplace mantel measured 2.5 meters long by 1.2 meters high and was completely hand made. Hayley engineered, sculpted, moulded and cast this piece in brass and iron.

This client requested no photographs be taken of the works in their home. Hayley offers a premium privacy service to clients who make this request. This image is a mock-up of the fireplace mantel. Please enquire if you would like to know more about …

A Rocky Climb to the Top… Where there is Room to Breath

Hayley’s client commissioned a large, misty, realistic mountainscape mural to be airbrushed across an entire wall in their Sydney CBD conference room. With a specific colour way to maintain the company branding and a request that the mural feel uplifting and freeing with a lot of clear sky space to carry the companies mission statement - giving you room to breath.

“It was a meaningful experience for me, getting back on the airbrush for a mural. I use my airbrushes all the time for props jobs and aging. The occasional commissioned mural, like this one, really help me feel connected to my dad, Shane Egan. He is a master airbrush artist and his work in the 70’s surf industry put him on the map. while sculpting is my bread and butter, I love to airbrush… The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” -Hayley Egan
